I am currently reading, Preaching & Preachers, by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. In a section called, Total Gospel, he writes, "while there is an aspect of preaching which is concerned to inculcate moral and ethical principles, and the application of them to life, this must never be done in isolation….The preacher must always be saying the 'whole thing'…even while he is putting particular stress and emphasis on certain individual matters for the moment" (pp. 80-81). In other words, preaching what we Christians do must never be isolated from preaching what Christ has done and is doing.
